Industrial lubricating oil
Lubricating oil generally consists of two parts: base oil and additives. Base oil is the main component of lubricating oil, which determines the basic properties of lubricating oil. Additives can compensate for and improve the shortcomings of base oil performance, endow certain new properties, and are an important component of lubricating oil. The lubricant products commonly used can be roughly divided into two categories, namely lubricants for industrial machinery and industrial production process oils. Gear oil belongs to the former, and its function is purely lubrication; Quenching oil belongs to the latter. When hot steel is quenched into oil, the oil can quickly "remove" the heat from the steel, and it also acts as a process oil. Quenching oil allows steel to harden in it, but does not require lubrication. In other words, quenching oil is used to cool steel ingots without lubrication.
Industrial lubricating oil has a wide range of applications, and there are also many types of base oils, such as pure mineral oil, PAO polyhydroxyalkane synthetic oil, polyether synthetic oil, alkylbenzene oil, and biodegradable lipid oil. When they become lubricating oils for certain industrial equipment, they cannot be mixed with each other. For example, when polyether synthetic oil is mixed with other industrial oils, its performance will significantly decrease. There are many types of industrial lubricating oils, but their main varieties include steam turbine oil, bearing lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, gear oil, machine tool lubricating oil, lubricating grease, metalworking fluid, textile lubricating oil, quenching oil, heat transfer oil, electrical oil, refrigeration oil, rust prevention oil, etc. They can be said to be large in quantity and widely used in the industry, and are widely familiar varieties.
Industrial lubricants have different additives in different application scenarios. Hydraulic oil used outdoors should be suitable for local temperature changes and should not be used in enclosed indoor environments. In addition, the usage conditions of heavy-duty gear oil and formed oil are also different. Heavy duty gear oil contains extreme pressure additives to ensure it can be used in harsh environments. Formed oil is usually pure mineral oil without additives.
The role of industrial lubricants
Relieve friction and reduce high temperature: A sufficiently thick oil film separates the relatively sliding surface of the parts, thereby achieving the goal of reducing wear.
Sealing effect: Oil can form a sealing ring between the piston ring and piston, reducing gas leakage and preventing external pollutants from entering.
Rust proof effect: Lubricating oil can adsorb on the surface of parts to prevent contact between water, air, acidic substances, and harmful gases.
Buffering effect: When the operating pressure of the equipment rises sharply, it suddenly intensifies operation, generates metal chips due to wear, and increases the operating load. This load is transmitted and lubricated by the bearings, providing a buffering effect on the impact load it bears.
Cleaning effect: Good engine oil can circulate carbides, water, sludge, and worn metal particles on equipment parts back to the oil tank, and through the flow of lubricating oil, flush the dirt generated on the working surface of the parts.
Industrial hydraulic oil
Hydraulic oil plays many important roles in hydraulic equipment. According to its different functions, it can be summarized as transmitting energy, system lubrication, reducing machine friction and wear, preventing machine rust and corrosion, sealing some gaps in hydraulic equipment, taking away friction heat, achieving cooling, flushing, dispersion, and other functions.
For the use of hydraulic oil, the first requirement is to meet the liquid viscosity requirements of hydraulic devices at working and starting temperatures. As the viscosity change of oil is directly related to hydraulic action, transmission efficiency, and transmission accuracy, it is also necessary to ensure that the viscosity temperature performance and shear stability of oil meet various requirements for different purposes. In addition, hydraulic oil should have good compatibility with the metal and sealing materials of the hydraulic system, as well as good filtration performance; Has corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and resistance to air entrainment and foaming tendency; Good thermal stability and oxidation stability; Has demulsifying properties; For certain special purposes, it should also have flame resistance and not cause pollution to the environment (such as being easily biodegradable and non-toxic). Hydraulic oil is generally divided into types such as mineral oil hydraulic oil, synthetic hydrocarbon hydraulic oil, flame resistant hydraulic oil, clean hydraulic oil, biodegradable hydraulic oil, etc. based on its purpose and characteristics.
The following is the basic information of various types of hydraulic oils: mineral oil/synthetic hydrocarbon hydraulic oil - Product symbol composition and characteristics - Reference standard for Chinese standards - HH refined mineral oil, without additives DIN51517-79 BS4475-75- HL refined mineral oil, and improving its rust prevention and oxidation resistance VICKERS I-286-S HM HL oil, and improving its wear resistance Milacron p-68/69/70 HG HM oil, with viscosity and slip properties GB11118.1-94 DIN51524 (II) -1985 HV HM oil, and improving its viscosity and temperature properties. Polyolefin synthetic oil is the base oil NFE48-603-1983 HS without additives. Synthetic fluids with specific flame retardancy, polyolefin synthetic oil as the base oil - Flame resistant hydraulic oil is mainly used in hydraulic systems close to or near fire and heat sources in industries such as metallurgy, mining, power plants, and machining. It is divided into water-based hydraulic oils (HFAE, HFB, HFC) There are three types: phosphate lipid type (HFDR) and other synthetic types (HFDS, HFDU). Clean hydraulic oil is used in hydraulic systems containing electrohydraulic PTFE valves and other precision components. Biodegradable hydraulic oil is developed to meet environmental requirements and control environmental pollution. Low molecular weight polyisobutylene has good viscosity temperature performance, mechanical shear resistance, and thermal shear resistance. It is non-toxic and easier to degrade than ordinary minerals, so it is suitable as a viscosity index improver to modulate hydraulic oil.
